On May 18th, the Intelligent Healthcare and Rehabilitation Forum was held in the Lecture Hall of Shaw Building of the University. The forum was organized by the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, and co-organized by the School of Information Science and Engineering of East China University of Science and Technology, the Department of Medicine of Tianjin University, the Institute of Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Technology of the National Rehabilitation Aids Research Center, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Automation of Shanghai University, and the Rehabilitation and Human-Computer Engineering Group of Artificial Intelligence Branch of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering. Academician Liu Changsheng, vice president of our university, Prof. Du Wenli, dean of the School of Information, Prof. Wang Xingyu, Prof. Niu Yugang and Prof. Jin Jing of the School of Information attended the forum. More than 130 people from more than 30 universities and research institutes, including Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Southeast University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, Institute of Neurology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Semiconductors of Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. attended the forum.

    At the opening ceremony, Liu Changsheng, Wan Suiren, vice president of Chinese Biomedical Engineering Society, and Du Wenli delivered speeches respectively. Liu Changsheng expressed his     warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the experts who came to this forum, and briefly introduced East China University of Science and Technology. He pointed out that life and health is an important theme direction for scientific research and industrial development in the next few years, and hoped to carry out in-depth discussions and enhance mutual cooperation through the exchange of conference reports. Mr. Wan Suiren congratulated the convening of this forum. He said that biomedical engineering is a comprehensive discipline to improve human health, and it is an important foundation and strong support for the development of modern healthcare. Artificial intelligence, as a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change, is leading the development of the profession, so this forum is held at the right time. Du Wenli introduced information about the School of Information. She pointed out that the cross-study of artificial intelligence, medicine and brain science is one of the specialties in the direction of artificial intelligence in the School of Information Technology, and hoped that through this forum, more bright flames of communion and innovation could be collided. The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Jin Jing, the dean of the Department of Automation of the School of Information.

    The forum aims to promote scientific research exchange and teaching and education research on AI technology related to medical rehabilitation, focus on the frontiers and hotspots of the application of modern AI technology, and continuously improve the application of AI technology in the field of medical rehabilitation.

    Nowadays, in the context of the era of artificial intelligence, the application of intelligent technology in the field of healthcare and rehabilitation can not only transform the traditional way of interaction between rehabilitation products and users, but also reconfigure the rehabilitation experience of patients. During the forum, experts from the University of California, San Diego, Virginia Commonwealth University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University, Tianjin University, Institute of Neuroscience of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology, and Xi'an Jiaotong University, etc., made wonderful academic reports on the theme of intelligent healthcare and rehabilitation, and discussed the development of the combination of AI technology and the field of healthcare and rehabilitation, and encouraged the promotion of multi-scientific research. They discussed the development of combining AI technology with the medical rehabilitation field, encouraged and promoted the exchange and cooperation in multi-science and multi-specialty fields, and gave detailed answers to the questions from the audience.

    In addition, this forum also focuses on the research on teaching and education of AI technology related to medical rehabilitation.     In the discussion part of the forum, experts from Tianjin University, Southeast University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, Shandong University, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other universities and research institutes conducted group discussions on 3 aspects, including neurological and psychological rehabilitation, assisted living and rehabilitation equipment, and the future and application of brain-computer interface. The experts combined the discussion topics with their own professional fields and made speeches respectively, which drew warm applause from the audience.
