    On December 13, Process Intelligent Manufacturing Science and Technology Innovation Forum, which was jointly organized by East China University of Science and Technology and Shanghai Process Intelligent Manufacturing Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute, was held in Shanghai International Convention Center. Xu Nanping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wu Qing, member of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal Committee and vice mayor of Shanghai, Lu Jianhua, deputy director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Lei Chaozhi, director of Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and other leaders, more than 20 academicians, leaders of the NSFC, Shanghai Municipal commissions and bureaus, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government in the Pudong New Area, and more than 20 enterprises, as well as Du Huifang, secretary of the Party Committee of East China University of Science and Technology, President Qu Jingping, Vice President Qian Feng, Wang Huifeng and other university leaders attended the meeting, focusing on the theme of Artificial Intelligence Enables Process Manufacturing, and conducted in-depth discussions on the strategic layout, trend prediction, industrial development and other aspects of the high-quality development of China's process manufacturing industry.     Academician Xu Nanping said in his speech that the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee put science and technology innovation in an unprecedented position, and science and technology is the key and strategic support for realizing the second 100-year goal. He hoped that through the organization of the forum, we can focus on the deep integration of process industry and artificial intelligence, and create a national strategic scientific and technological force in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta; focus on the transformation of science into technology, in-depth study of the national basic scientific research and paradigm issues, and solve the key technology of the neck problem; focus on the process industry in the Yangtze River Delta. We will also focus on the problems of process industries in the Yangtze River Delta, applying the new generation of artificial intelligence technology to realize the rapid development of process industries in the Yangtze River Delta.

    At the forum, Academician Qian Feng, the project leader of the Basic Science Center of Intelligent Optimization and Regulation Mechanism of Material Transformation and Manufacturing Processes, gave a detailed report on the construction of the Basic Science Center project. The project is based on East China University of Science and Technology, and the participating units include Central South University and Northeastern University. Focusing on the frontier, the project aims to study the intelligent optimization and regulation mechanism of material transformation manufacturing process through the in-depth fusion of new-generation artificial intelligence technology and process manufacturing, so as to systematically solve the problems of high-end product performance, large-scale resource and energy optimization, and flexible and autonomous regulation and control in forward-looking basic research and basic science center. Through innovative understanding and cognition of the mechanism of process manufacturing and deepening and perfecting the regulation methods, we will systematically solve the major scientific problems in forward-looking basic research and applied basic research, such as performance of high-end products, optimization of large-scale resources and energy, as well as flexible and autonomous regulation, so as to serve the major strategic needs of intelligent, green and high-end manufacturing, consolidate the foundation of innovation and development, and build a world-class academic highland of process manufacturing intelligence.

    Prof. Du Wenli introduced the basic situation of the institute. With the goal of becoming a world-class and globally leading intelligent technology innovation platform for process manufacturing, the institute focuses on the theme of Artificial Intelligence Enabling Process Manufacturing, joins hands with renowned domestic and foreign universities, research institutes and enterprises, and makes full use of resources in the Yangtze River Delta region. It will make full use of the resources in the Yangtze River Delta region, promote the transformation and industrialization of technologies in the fields of industrial Internet and process manufacturing intelligence, promote the independent development of industrial core software, and further build the strongest brain for process manufacturing in the bulk raw materials industry and a series of high-end materials/chemicals.

    In the afternoon academic exchanges, Gui Weihua of Central South University made a keynote report on Intelligent Manufacturing and Industrial Internet in Process Industry, Academician Qian Feng made a keynote report on Status Quo, Challenges and Practices of Industrial Software for Process Manufacturing, Prof. Du Wenli made a keynote report on Optimization and Control of the Whole Process of Ethylene Production for Green and Intelligent Manufacturing, Prof. Ding Jinliang of Northeastern University made a keynote report on Dynamic Optimization of the Operation Indicators of the Whole Process of Complex Manufacturing Decision-Making, and Prof. Zhong Weimin of East China University of Science and Technology made a keynote report on Characterization of Oil Products in the Refining Process and Optimization of Operation.
