Themed upon Artificial Intelligence Empowers Process Manufacturing, the forum had an in-depth discussion as to the strategic planning, trend prediction, and industrial development of China’s high-quality process manufacturing industry.
At the forum, Academician Xu Nanping, Shanghai Deputy Mayor Wu Qing, Academician Lu Jianhua, and Director Lei Chaozi delivered speeches respectively. They jointly launched the Basic Science Center Program “Intelligent Optimization and Control Mechanism for Material Conversion-based Manufacturing Process” by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and unveiled the establishment of Shanghai Institute of Smart Process Manufacturing Technology and Innovation.
Zhang Zhaotian, Executive Deputy Director of the Information Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, announced the establishment of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the “Intelligent Optimization and Control Mechanism for Material Conversion-based Manufacturing Process” Basic Science Center Program and Shanghai Institute of Smart Process Manufacturing Technology and Innovation, and handed over letters of appointment to 17 Committee experts.
At this forum, Pudong New Area and East China University of Science and Technology signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on Accelerating the Source Construction of Smart Process Technology and Innovation ; Professor Du Wenli, Dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering ECUST, signed the strategic collaboration agreement with representatives from 14 enterprises including Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Enterprise Development Co., Ltd., Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd., and China Petrochemical Co., Ltd. Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company.
After that, Academician Qian Feng, Head of Materials Transformation Manufacturing Process Smart Optimization and Control Mechanism Basic Science Center Project, delivered a keynote report to update the progress of project construction. The project is mainly undertaken by East China University of Science and Technology, and participated by Central South University and Northeastern University. It will follow closely the cutting-edge technology of the industry and carry out research on smart optimization and control mechanism of the material transformation manufacturing process through in-depth integration with the new-generation artificial intelligence and process manufacturing technology. Through innovative understanding of process manufacturing mechanism and deep improvement of control methods, the project could systematically solve major scientific issues arising from the forward-looking basic research as well as applied basic research including performance of the high-end products, optimized use of large-scale resource and energy, and flexible autonomous system control. The purpose of this project is to serve major strategic needs of smart manufacturing, green manufacturing and high-end manufacturing, lay a solid foundation for innovation and development, and create a world-class academic highland for smart process manufacturing.
