教授在大规模复杂过程系统优化领域做出了非常突出的贡献,在全球学术界和工业界均具有很高的知名度。他的研究方向包括:
   computer aided process engineering (CAPE)
   large-scale flowsheet simulation, optimization, and sensitivity analysis
   optimization of systems of differential and algebraic equations
   parameter estimation and data reconciliation for steady and dynamic problems
   constrained, nonlinear process control

  Biegler
教授领导的课题组开发的大规模优化软件rSQP/IPOPT等已经作为著名的Aspen Plus软件的优化求解器,为大规模流程系统的优化提供核心计算引擎。另外在流程模拟与优化、面向操作优化的参数估计和数据调和等方面也有很好的研究成果。
